Pennville Clinic circa 1907 |
History of Caylor-Nickel ClinicCaylor-Nickel Clinic is rich in the tradition of patient care, a legacy left by our founder, Dr. Charles E. Caylor. From his first visit to the Mayo Clinic, he believed that a group of physicians could provide better medical care for every patient. In 1897, his determination to bring his model to Indiana led him to establish his practice in Pennville, just South of Bluffton. Eventually, the facility was moved to Bluffton in 1917, where today it is still locally owned, with a premier reputation as one of the largest multi-specialty groups in Northeast Indiana. By the late 1920's, Dr. Charles' sons, Harold and Truman Caylor, had finished medical school and joined the practice with their father. In 1931, a classmate of Dr. Truman Caylor's, Dr. Allen C. Nickel, also joined the group and the practice became knows as the Caylor-Nickel Clinic.
